Help young Australians in need

The Smith Family welcomes applications to volunteer from all people who want to make a difference, regardless of education, background or skill set. We regularly have volunteer opportunities available throughout the country to match a range of interests, skills and availabilities.

Search by state to find out how you can join our volunteer community and give your time or skills to help support young Australians in need. Please note that in most cases, all volunteers must be over 18 years of age.

Volunteer tutor Ha enjoys giving back

"When the children work out something for themselves through assistance, their faces just light up, it's like a light bulb just goes off in their heads and you can just see them grasp that information and really understand it. And it's really a proud moment that they have for themselves and that's what I get out of it ... That's why I come here every week", says Ha, one of our learning club volunteer tutors.

"I actually look forward to the time that I give here every week because I get so much more than what I give. It's only an hour and a half of my time, and that's nothing in comparison to what is actually achieved when you're helping these children," says Ha.
