Our commitment to children's safety and education
Our commitment
At The Smith Family, keeping children safe and well is our top priority!
We want to create a strong and safe community for children. To do this, we:
- require all team members working with children and young people to get a Working with Children Clearance
- take action to protect children and young people from physical abuse,
- train all team members to follow The Smith Family Child Protection Framework

Safe communication with sponsors
One way we keep your children safe is by monitoring their communications with sponsors.
Your child's sponsor loves to hear about how they’re doing at school. We encourage sponsors and students to connect through different forms of communication, such as letters, cards, and artwork. But not all information is safe to share! We keep your identity safe and do not share any information that could identify your family in any way.
That's why we check all communications three times before sending them to the sponsor.
Our team members remove any sensitive information that could reveal your child's identity during the process.
Sensitive information:
- School name
- School Report
- Home and school addresses
- Photos with your child’s face
- Name of restaurants or places they visit on the weekend
- Name of their local sporting teams
Safe information to share:
- First name
- School year Level
- Hobbies and interests
- Student Profile
- Month and year of birth
