New Member Welcomed in May 2026
Members celebrated their Mothers Day luncheon at the Grand Hotel where an enjoyable day was had by all, when all the Members had to put their thinking caps on for a game of trivia set by the birthday girl Joy.
A new member was presented with her badge and welcome booklet.

Winners Are Grinners
The raffle of the beautiful patchwork rugs and bag kindly donated by Merimbula member Myriam was drawn. The committee member who did all the hard work selling the tickets over the last few months was Sue, which resulted in a large amount of money being amassed for our Learning for Life students. Winner of he bag, Therese was absent on the day.

Birthday Celebrations in 2026
Celebrating 47 Years
Our Club celebrated our 47th Birthday in April, and we would like to thank member Jan, pictured on the left, for standing in for President Veronica, who had to dash away and couldn't be present for most of the day. Jan chaired the meeting for almost the entire day of the birthday celebrations and did an excellent job.
Our most recent member Helen, pictured top right, had the honour of cutting the 47th Birthday cake, pictured below right.
Special Birthday Moments
Pictured are two very special members attending our birthday celebrations,; Myriam who is a visitor from Merimbula VIEW, and our own, Zone Councillor Anne.
Bega VIEW feels as though they own a little part of Myriam because she has donated several patchwork rugs and bags to be raffled raising quite a large amount of money for our Learning for Life students.
Then and Now Nostalgia
After two members, Helen and Pam were photographed sitting together at our 47th birthday celebrations, it was realised that back in the day, when the newspaper used to take the photographs, the same two ladies were snapped sitting together 27 years ago.
The two Members are the other way around in the newspaper clipping, Pam and Helen.
Birthday Celebrations
Photo on the left show some of the members after they set up the table for the day with the lovely cake made by President Veronica.
A group of local musicians provided some wonderful entertainment as a treat for our 47th birthday; and member Norma can be seen with a couple of the group, pictured right, as she presented them with a certificate of appreciation.
International Women's Day 2026 Celebrated
Our Club celebrated International Women’s day at Club Bega last month where President Veronica welcomed 43 members who were entertained by a fitting guest speaker for the day Sally Shipard, a former Matilda’s player, who now resides in our local district.
Sally talked about her time with the Matilda’s, and her current life, and her struggle to overcome ovarian cancer.
At the conclusion of her story she was thanked and presented with a certificate of appreciation by committee member Joy, as can be seen in the photo.

Members held their Annual General Meeting at their last luncheon, and had a successful election of most committee positions were filled.

Christmas 2025 Celebrations
Members and guests celebrated our Christmas luncheon at which a very special award was made to Barbara, one of our members. Earlier this year our Club nominated Barb for a making a difference award and although she was accepted and included on the honorary role at convention, this was the first opportunity we had to present the award to her.
Barbara has been making and icing the beautiful Christmas cakes that have been raffled to raise funds for our students, for well over a decade, and has consequently raised thousands of dollars.
