April 2025 Guest Speaker
If you are interested in joining a club offering fun, friendship, support and meaningful purpose by helping young Australians reach their full potential through education, we would welcome you to join our Club.
Recently, Members were given a very interesting talk about Women in the Army by guest speaker, Brigadire Alan Hodges AM.. He displayed a very beautiful quilt made by his wife. As she is now in care the quilt will ultimately be given to the War Memorial.
Our next meeting will be held at the Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden, on Tuesday 27th May, and the cost is $36.00 per head for a two-course lunch. This month’s speaker will be Dennis Ogden who will tell us all about the wonderful work of Kids In Care. He would very much appreciate donations of Socks and Undies which are always needed.
Guests are welcome, but please advise Lesley of your attendance on 0412 664 195 by Tuesday 5.30 pm Wednesday 20th May.

International Women's Day lunch
Nine members of the Woden View Club joined a large gathering of other ACT area Clubs for a wonderful International Women's Day lunch at the China Tea Club in North Lyneham.
Our guest speaker was Lindy Hou, Paralympic Gold Medallist and Motivational Speaker who spoke about achieving personal dreams and goals. She related her personal journey in life, culminating in winning a Paralympic Gold Medal. We were also entertained by two young women from the Prosperous Mountain Dragon and Lion Dance troupe who told us of the traditions and meaning of the Lion Dance.

5 dedicated members
The photograph shows our five members who work hard every month in fund raising. They are our raffle ticket sellers Maria and Lorraine (top), and Margaret, Marilyn and Paula (bottom) at our trading table. The table is always very well stocked thanks to the generosity of all our members.

2024 Christmas at Woden
Our last meeting for the year was a wonderful get together of our lovely club members.
Everyone took home some Xmas goodies and our incredibly generous ladies raised more than $400 for the Learning for Life program.
We were entertained with Christmas songs by Col Greef and his veteran friends. They are a great group who help disadvantaged children by refurbishing and distributing guitars.
If you would like to be part of this friendly supportive group, have fun and help disadvantaged children why not come along to our meeting on the 25th of February. The cost is $36 for a two course lunch at the Canberra Southern Cross Club. New members are always welcome but please advise Monica on 0412664195 by Tuesday 18th so that she can arrange a meal for you.

Celebrating Our 54th Birthday in 2024
Forty-three Members and guests celebrated our Club's 54th birthday with a licorice allsorts theme. Those present were resplendent in all licorice allsort colours, some having made necklaces out of them and one wearing licorice allsorts pyjamas.
The tables looked decorative, the birthday cake celebrated the theme. We were proud to show off our new banner too. A fun day was had by all.
The accompanying group of photos is indicative of the day.

Entertainment for Our 54th Birthday
The entertainment by the Concordia Choir was delightful and took us on a trip down memory lane with many of their songs, and the choir got us to sing along to a few. There were many feet tapping and heads wobbling.
Photo is of the lovely choir.

Christmas in July
Forty ladies and guests from Woden VIEW Club enjoyed a Christmas in July theme for their meeting on 23 July with much fun and friendship and were entertained by the 'TinMugs' who were also dressed in the Christmas spirit and gave some ladies the opportunity to “kick up their heels”.
A fun meeting!
