Celebrating 50 years service with VIEW
Meet Enid, a very special lady with a heart for service.
Club committee Members, Lyn, Shirley and Janne, were delighted to meet up with Enid and her son Trevor recently for coffee and a chat at the Boatshed Cafe. The occasion was to congratulate this lovely lady on her 50th year's membership of VIEW Clubs Australia and to present her with her 50 year badge.
Now a resident of Riverside Gardens, Enid contacted our Club when she moved to Nambucca Heads nearly twelve months ago. She was very keen to continue her membership of VIEW Clubs Australia, after having served with the Picton branch for forty-nine years. She is a big supporter of The Smith Family Learning for Life program. A stay-at-home mum to her son, Trevor, Enid at 45, joined the freshly minted Picton Club which started in 1974. While still sharing a close relationship with son Trevor, the move to Nambucca Heads where he is a long-time resident, now allows her to spend more time with him.
During her time with Picton VIEW Club, Enid threw herself whole-heartedly into supporting the aims of VIEW. At various times she served in every local VIEW committee position as well as time served as Zone Councillor and travelling to attend many National VIEW meetings.
She grew up in Brighton Le Sands from where her family subsequently moved to Tahmoor. Enid kept herself busy and active, at various times playing tennis, golf and bowls. She has also enjoyed travel to many places within the Pacific region. If being active and involved in the community are the secret to ageing well, then Enid provides a great testament to this.
Though now unable to attend regular meetings, she still maintains life-long friendships she has made with VIEW Club Members over the years and still has a vital interest in the activities of VIEW. Her interest in community service has obviously been passed on to her son, Trevor, who holds membership in several local community organisations including The Lions Club and WIRES. Trevor, a teacher has previously served as Principal of Frank Partridge VC Public School as well as Vice Principal of another school in the region.
Enid dispels any notion that VIEW Club is only for old ladies, assuring us that during her time as an active member, she has shared fun and service with women from the age of 20 through to 90. She, like all VIEW members hopes to see memberships grow so that the valuable support can continue will into the future.
