Centenary Evening VIEW Club

The theme for our 30th birthday was Black, White & Read all over which is in reference to books.  Two Inaugural members, Jan and Val, were presented with their 30 year badges by NC Lyall, and Jan received her 10 year badge from ZC Irene.

TSF GM Qld Alan LeMay gave a rousing toast to Centenary, calling on everyone to stand and raise their glasses in celebration of a great milestone.
Guest Speaker Lyndall Hill took us through her career journey as a teacher and her love of literature. This has led to her creating Word Fest, Toowoomba’s annual literary festival.

Members made hats out of newspapers and adorned them with various regalia.  A parade was held and the Most Original winner was Jayne with her creation of a strawberry, while Wendy won the Best in Show.   

 Accompanying photo shows the winners of the Hat Parade, who are modelling their wonderful creations.

Members recently enjoyed an outing to Kalbar, a pretty town on the scenic rim, west of Brisbane, with some beautiful historic buildings; one of which can be seen in the accompanying photo.

We discovered Kalbar has some very interesting shops, as you can see by the shopping bags and the happy smiles!

As can be seen in the accompanying photo our Members made delightful models for our fundraiser Fashion Parade.

Parasols featured heavily in the decorations for our Spring Fling fashion parade.

Members happily support the functions held by the hospitality department at Bundamba TAFE.

Our intrepid Members were well wrapped up for the Walk with VIEW  As can be seen by the accompanying photo, participants were determined not to let the chilly winter weather keep them at home.

Our annual Walk with VIEW included getting up close and personal with the construction of the new Centenary bridge.

During our barefoot bowls fundraiser, Publicity Officer Sue discovered a new ability-She is a talented bowler!

As can be seen by the accompanying photo, our coffee and chat mornings are just as popular in April as they were in January.

Our Club temporarily relocated to a Bowls Club where the Committee catered for their monthly VIEW meetings. They are now back in their home venue.

First outing of the year, was in January.
