Oakleigh Evening VIEW Club

Another successful VIEW Club meeting was held in November.   Dave from Seniors Fire Safety Victoria gave a very informative talk about preventing fires in the home. Or what to do if a fire starts.

Our Novel November book stall which raised $163.

Our Members enjoyed the fabulous meal prepared by OCRSL Bistro.

Our club annual Make, Bake or Grow auction night raised $523, an amazing result. So many lovely plants, home made goodies and handcrafted items!!

Our club were lucky to have Naomi and Chris from Monash Council as guest speakers last Monday. They gave us a wealth of information about doing the right thing when recycling.  Members had lots of questions that they happily answered.

Our Club’s annual Christmas in July plus Mystery Auction night was a huge success. The auction raised $427.

Another very successful evening in June.  Ann Nield, who can be seen in the accompanying photo, gave us a most interesting talk about her journey of discovering the history of her house built in 1925.

Always great to welcome new Members, and Marg was presented with her name badge and VIEW information pack in June 2024.

Our club’s 30th birthday was such a wonderful night!!  All the members voted to take on the sponsorship of another Learning for Life student. That makes seven students we sponsor.

The Pearls of Wisdom theme was a hit with people putting on pearl necklaces, bracelets, brooches etc. People decorated their name badges in very creative ways to make them look partyfied.

Andrea received a Making A Difference Award, and three Members received their 30th year service badges.

While Gail was also recognised at our Club birthday celebrations receiving her 20 year service badge.

Maureen from Story Dogs was an inspirational speaker who explained how the dogs go into schools and have young students read books to the dogs.  It greatly helps students struggling with learning to read.
