Get Involved
- Volunteer
  As a VIEW member there are many opportunities to volunteer your time and skills to directly help and support The Smith Family and disadvantaged Australian children and their families.
- Fundraise
  VIEW members raise over $1.1 million annually for The Smith Family and sponsor more than 1,650+ Learning for Life students.
- Raise awareness and advocate
  With more than 300 clubs around Australia involving some 14,000 women from all walks of life, the collective voice of VIEW is an important aspect of the organsation's work.
- Sponsor a disadvantaged student
  Learning for Life sponsorship provides disadvantaged students with financial assistance, emotional support and access to learning and educational programs.

QB02 Zone Conference

02 October 2018

Held at Lennox Street Bowling Club, Maryborough on13th September 2018

Fifty-seven members and guests from Gympie, Hervey Bay and Fraser Coast VIEW Clubs with guests from Maryborough gathered together for a very informative and entertaining day.

Entertainment was provided by Val with her hilarious renditions of Pam Eyres poetry. Val has spent many years in amateur theatre, and her father introduced her to Pam Eyres poetry when he sent her a book one Xmas, so she decided to bring these charming poems to life for us.

Past National Councillor, Barbara Cameron, encouraged everyone to think seriously about taking on a committee position within their club. Whilst dealing with the serious side of committee meetings, fun and friendship is also a big factor and goes a long way to keeping the groups flourishing. Barbara also spoke about the National Convention to be held on the Sunshine Coast in 2019 and hopes that members from our Zone will participate in our States function.

QB01 Sunshine Coast's Zone Councillor, Margaret, enlightened us on how some of her clubs support disadvantaged children through the Smith Family and the Learning For Life program.

The Deputy Mayor of the Fraser Coast, Darren Everard enthused about the support VIEW Club members give to the Smith Family. As the Fraser Coast is classed as a very disadvantaged area, he spoke about his involvement in the production of a 'LITTLE BLACK BOOK" for Fraser Coast Mates. This has been formulated by a group of local business men concerned by the rise of debilitating mental health issues and rising suicide rates across the region, especially amongst the male population.

After a light lunch, Greig Bolderrow, Vice President of the Queen's Park Military Trail Project in Maryborough explained how this ongoing project came about and related some of the stories from local men involved in the Great War. At the conclusion of our meeting, Greig took members on a guided tour of the Duncan Chapman Memorial site, Duncan being the first Australian to step on the shores of Gallipoli.
