Learning Clubs 2024
What are Learning Clubs?
Learning Clubs provide a safe, fun, and supportive learning environment where students can get help with their schoolwork or participate in activities which strengthen their academic and social skills. Students are directly assisted by dedicated volunteer Learning Club tutors, outside of school hours.
This extra learning and interpersonal support provided by our Clubs and tutors helps students experiencing poverty to keep up in class, stay engaged with their education, and succeed at school.
Do you have the following qualities?
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to communicate well with people
• A friendly and positive attitude
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Are you able to perform these tasks (with support and training)?
• Assist students in developing skills and knowledge in particular subject areas through structured activities
• Model and encourage appropriate behavioural standards and build positive relationships with students
• Assist students to complete homework tasks
• Set up and pack down (tables, chairs, resources, fruit etc.)
• Liaise with the Club Coordinator on students' support needs and progress
Can you commit to this timeframe?
• 1-2 hours (once per week) for a minimum of two school terms (around 18 weeks), generally between 3-4pm
If the answer is yes, and you have a strong passion to support young Australians with their education both academically and socially, we would love to hear from you!
