Meet the students taking part in our programs

Read inspiring stories of resilience and empowerment as young Australians share their journey of growing up in disadvantage, and how the support they received through The Smith Family is empowering them to build a better future for themselves.

Their success shows that with the right support at the right time, every child has the opportunity to change their future.

The life-changing impact of our programs

Every child deserves the chance to fulfil their potential. But for 1 in 6 Australian children1, living with poverty can limit their choices, opportunities, and outcomes in life.

Fortunately, there is a proven solution. Our targeted out-of-school learning and mentoring programs help children overcome the barriers poverty puts in the way of their learning to achieve all they’re capable of.

Three of our core programs - Learning Clubs, student2student and iTrack – empower young people to gain the skills and motivation that all children need to succeed throughout their education. These are supported by a wide range of additional learning and mentoring programs that support young Australians with numeracy, literacy, technology, career pathways, the arts and much more.

This vital support gives young people the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty - by helping them fully engage in their education so they can finish high school and go on to further study or employment.
