Watch Bronnie inspire kids to reach for their dreams
As a child, Bronnie didn’t know what it looked like to have a secure career. She watched her single mum struggle to find any work just to cover life’s basics. “Just getting food on the table was sometimes hard. We had second-hand books, second hand uniforms. Everything was always super budgeted,” says Bronnie.
But then someone like you came into Bronnie’s life, helping enable her to be all that she could be.
Along with school essentials like uniforms and books, support from Bronnie’s Learning for Life sponsor meant she could build on the artistic talent she discovered at school and buy art supplies.
She would share her drawings with her sponsor, who sent encouraging letters in return. “My sponsor believed in me, and I thought; ‘I’m going to do something with this’,” Bronnie says.
It’s through hard work, and knowing she had the support to pursue her dreams, that Bronnie achieved a university degree and a thriving graphic design career.
We recently asked Bronnie to create a series of artworks representing the dream careers of three current Learning for Life students. You can watch her at work in the studio in this very special video. “It gave me goosebumps, getting asked to help disadvantaged students visualise their futures,” says Bronnie. “It’s so important to dream outside of what you’re in now.”
