Roghayeh’s father died when she was just eight years old. It was a devastating loss. He had always encouraged her to focus on her education, and she took this lesson to heart.
But when Roghayeh’s family arrived in Australia three years later, they struggled. Textbooks and school uniforms were not only expensive but Roghayeh couldn’t understand her English-speaking teachers. It seemed impossible to access the education her father had told her was so important.
