Watch as the magic of Christmas is restored
18 January 2021
2020 was such a tough year for so many, especially for children living in disadvantage. Many children finished school for the year with no Christmas presents to look forward to, as their parents simply couldn’t afford them. It was so important to restore some of the magic of Christmas to them and their families.
And thanks to the amazing volunteers, supporters and corporate partners of our Toy & Book Appeal, we could do just that! Every gift collected, sorted and distributed was a spark of joy, delivered to the heart of a child who would otherwise go without.

In one of the most challenging years on record:
- 3,000 generous volunteers helped with the packs and delivery day
- Over 54,000 toys and 22,000 books were donated through the appeal
- 31,000 toy and book packs were delivered to children across Australia
- Over 14,000 families received toys and books
We want every supporter and volunteer to know that the positive impact they make lasts well beyond Christmas Day. Showing a disadvantaged child that someone out there is thinking of them and cares about them can create joyful memories that last a lifetime.
As the grateful mum, a gift recipient shared with us:
“It means a lot, not just to me but to all the other families around, it puts more smiles on their faces,” said Stefanie, mother of Learning for Life students.
Our Toy & Book Appeal is a tradition that so many poor families count on – one we couldn’t be prouder of! Thank you to everyone who helped make Christmas magical for children in need.
