The perfect fit for Natalie was in her VIEW

As a mother of school-aged children, Natalie is among a new type of younger VIEW Club member. VIEW Clubs are a national women’s community organisation which supports The Smith Family. Natalie joined VIEW in 2019, helping to establish a club in her local area. Now the Inaugural President of that club, Natalie has shared why she joined VIEW and what it means to her.

“I loved the idea of women from all walks of life coming together, empowering each other and supporting The Smith Family. I was looking for something I could do with my mum and knew from the first meeting that VIEW was the perfect fit for me,” she says.

“The first year as President was a steep learning curve and incredibly busy, but I’m a firm believer that you will find time to do the things you enjoy. I also love lists!

“Being part of VIEW has had a profound impact on my life. Each woman has her own unique story and wisdom. It's an amazing opportunity to listen and learn while supporting the life-changing work The Smith Family does through their various programs.

“Our monthly meetings are a joy. Our Program Officers do an excellent job sourcing interesting guest speakers. There is also the social side of VIEW which I enjoy immensely. Whether it’s our monthly book club meetings, movie day or lunch at a local venue, you can be sure of some wonderful company and lively conversation.

Being part of VIEW has had a profound impact on my life. It's an amazing opportunity to listen and learn while supporting the life-changing work The Smith Family does through their various programs.

“After a quiet COVID year we have been super busy in 2021. We provided The Smith Family’s local team with over 200 handmade library bags filled with stationery for local school students, held our Annual General Meeting and celebrated our second birthday.

“Our fundraising activities, be it a Bunnings sausage sizzle or cake stall, see an absolute flood of support from members volunteering their time to fill a shift or bake up a storm. We’ve been able to continue sponsoring five Learning for Life students thanks to this dedication.

“In a short time VIEW has afforded me so many opportunities to grow and learn as a person. It has been an honour to be President of my club. I work alongside a proactive, hardworking committee as well as a vibrant, dedicated membership. I encourage all women, regardless of age, to seek out their local VIEW Club and go to a meeting. It can change your life.”

VIEW (Voice, Interests and Education of Women) is a women’s volunteer organisation with over 15,000 members across Australia. VIEW members exclusively support The Smith Family’s work to improve educational outcomes for Australian children and young people living in disadvantage.
