Vanessa's Story

“My proudest moment was just receiving that certificate on the stage when I graduated … Seeing the smile and, you know, the tears on my mum’s face, was really heart-warming,” Vanessa, Learning for Life graduate.

Growing up, it was just Vanessa and her mum. There was barely enough money for food some days, let alone school expenses. So when Vanessa was matched with a sponsor in Year 3, it was a huge relief for the family. And it was the start of a future that Vanessa never dreamed possible.

After a decade of support from The Smith Family, Vanessa has become the first in her family to graduate high school. But it doesn’t stop there. Now she is preparing to achieve her next milestone…
